For one of the world's leading manufacturers and installers of wind turbines, SAFETEE analysed the occupational safety system, developed a safety concept focused on contractor management and rolled it out from two major projects across Germany and later Europe.

Occupational safety on European wind energy sites

Starting point

The client uses a large number of partner companies for the installation and commissioning of its turbines. The overall goal was a significant reduction in accident figures. The challenge was to integrate the extensive contractor management into a uniform safety concept.

Our task

We first analysed the existing occupational safety system and the safety processes in place. Based on two major projects, the safety concept was developed and then introduced on further sites of the client: first in Germany, then in Europe.

A sustainable safety concept

Through communication with stakeholders at all levels, an effective safety concept was developed and implemented across Europe, in particular for contractor management. As a result, accident figures dropped significantly: the LTI rate fell from a double-digit value to below 1.
